Saying positive Affirmations is the best way to get your mind to switch off the negative thoughts about what you don't have in your life to something positive/ what your wanting, but saying it like you already have it.
Just like our bodies are made up of energy, so are our thoughts. So if your always thinking of things that your lacking then that's what you'll get more of Lack, but if you turn your thoughts from lack to being grateful then your always thinking positive and only positive things/situations will come to you..
